教育学院
When you enroll in the Foundations Quarter, you are considered a tentative candidate for admission to the 教育学院. 方法前季度, you will be required to prepare a formal application for full admission to the 教育学院.
Upon the fulfillment of all required prerequisites and full admission to the 教育学院, you may take the primary sequence of courses leading to certification.
Admission to the 教育学院 requires the following:
- Complete the Foundations Quarter, 获得3分.0的绩点 (“B”) average with no grade lower than a 2.0 (“C”) Your prerequisite coursework must be no more than five years old.
- Receive a favorable recommendation 来自SPU教职员工.
- 通过教育学院 interview or submit two letters of recommendation for review.
- Pass ENG 3301 with a grade of 2.0 (“C”) or better (if admitted to the University Autumn 2012 or later).
- Achieve a minimum cumulative 3.0的绩点 或者是3.3 GPA in the last 45 credits of college or university work.
- 正式通过 score on the Washington Educator Skills Test – Basic (WEST-B) Testing requirement for teachers or official ACT/SAT scores meeting the minimum requirement for reading, 写作, 和数学.

- Take the appropriate Washington Educator Skills Test – Endorsement (WEST-E/NES) for each endorsement being earned.

Students will need 教育学院 permission to register for most classes in the 认证 Program. 在注册之前, contact the 教育学院 to confirm that appropriate prerequisites have been passed.
认证
All teacher certification candidates are subject to Washington state requirements for the Residency Certificate. These requirements are updated periodically by the 办公室 of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and will take precedent over SPU policies. The 教育学院 will make every effort to keep students appraised of state changes. Students are also encouraged to visit the 教育学院 office in 彼得森大厅 for updates on state requirements.
Upon successful completion of the Residency 认证 Program, the SPU 教育学院 recommends students to OSPI for their Residency Teacher 认证. Once OSPI receives program completion verification from SPU, students must complete the application process through the OSPI “e-认证” system in order to receive their certificate.
The Residency Teaching Certificate is the first certificate in Washington state. All teachers must take action to maintain a current teaching certificate as per OSPI regulations. Students are strongly encouraged to monitor their certification status on the “e-认证” system and keep appraised of current certification requirements on the OSPI认证网页.
